Ascophyllum nodosum is a sea kelp that is found off the coast of the Northeast United States. It's famous for growing from the sea floor to the surface at amazingly fast rates, sometimes at more than one-half meter per day. We use this sea kelp because it is rich in polyphenols, which are small molecules that may have antioxidant capacity. This sea kelp is being studied for its potential to reduce carbohydrate absorption and support individuals with diabetes. Sea kelp extracts are also being studied for their potential immunostimulating effects.
