GLP-1 is everywhere right now: in the news, on social media and at the center of almost every conversation about weight management. But GLP-1 isn't new, and it isn't synthetic. It's a hormone your body has been making your whole life. The real opportunity isn't overriding your biology; it's giving your body what it needs to do its job well.

GLP-1 Up is a daily plant-based supplement from Ora containing four patented ingredients: Eriomin (a lemon flavonoid extract), Reducose (mulberry leaf extract), Morosil (blood orange extract) and Feiolix (feijoa fruit powder). It's designed to support your body's natural GLP-1 production and a healthy blood sugar response, and it's tested under our 5 Nation Standard.

What does GLP-1 actually do?

GLP-1 stands for glucagon-like peptide-1. It's a hormone your gut releases after you eat, and according to a comprehensive review of GLP-1 biology it plays three key roles in how your body handles a meal:

  1. It tells your brain you're full. That feeling of being satisfied after a meal, not stuffed and not still reaching for snacks, is partly GLP-1 at work.
  2. It slows digestion. Food leaves your stomach more gradually, so you stay satisfied longer and sugar enters your bloodstream more steadily.
  3. It supports your insulin response. It prompts your pancreas to release insulin when blood sugar rises after a meal.

GLP-1 drugs vs. nutritional support: what's the difference?

What are GLP-1 drugs?

GLP-1 receptor agonists, such as semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy), are synthetic compounds that bind to the same receptors as your natural GLP-1 but are engineered to be far more potent and longer-lasting. They can produce significant results. They can also come with a high price, regular injections and side effects; nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and constipation are among the most common. Some of the weight lost is muscle and other lean tissue: across 22 trials, lean mass made up about 25% of the weight lost.

What is the nutritional approach?

Instead of a synthetic mimic, you can give your body plant compounds that research suggests support its own GLP-1 production and blood sugar balance. That's the approach behind GLP-1 Up. It isn't a replacement for prescription medication; it's a different category: nutritional support for the system you already have.

What are the ingredients in GLP-1 Up?

Four patented, clinically studied ingredients, each chosen for a different role.

Eriomin citrus flavonoid complex

A standardized lemon extract made up of 70% eriocitrin, 5% hesperidin and 4% naringin. In a 12-week, double-blind, randomized controlled trial in adults with prediabetes, 200 mg a day of Eriomin increased GLP-1 blood levels by 22% and lowered blood glucose by 6% compared with placebo, alongside favorable shifts in gut bacteria. In an earlier 12-week trial by the same research group, Eriomin reduced insulin resistance and glucose intolerance by 7% each, and 24% of participants no longer met the criteria for prediabetes at the end.

Reducose mulberry leaf extract

A water extract of white mulberry leaves rich in 1-deoxynojirimycin (DNJ), a compound that slows the enzymes that break carbohydrates down into sugar. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial at Oxford Brookes University, 250 mg of Reducose taken with a sugary drink lowered peak blood glucose by 40% and peak insulin by 41% compared with placebo. A follow-up trial with a full meal of bread and egg mayonnaise found that 200 to 250 mg doses reduced the glucose response by 30% to 33% and the insulin response by 31% to 38%.

Morosil blood orange extract

A standardized extract of Sicilian Moro blood oranges, rich in anthocyanins, particularly cyanidin 3-glucoside. In a six-month randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in adults with overweight who also followed diet and exercise advice, those taking the extract lost more body weight (4.2% vs 2.2%), more from their waist (3.9 cm vs 1.7 cm) and hips (3.4 cm vs 2.0 cm), and more visceral and subcutaneous fat than the placebo group. Lean mass stayed stable, and liver safety markers remained in the normal range.

Feiolix feijoa fruit powder

A whole-fruit powder made from New Zealand-grown feijoa (Acca sellowiana, also called pineapple guava). Feijoa is a natural source of flavonoids, vitamin C and fiber. In the FERDINAND randomized controlled trial, adults with overweight and prediabetes took 1,150 mg a day of whole-fruit feijoa powder or a placebo alongside a weight-loss diet. Both groups improved fasting glucose and weight as they lost weight, with no significant difference between them, but systolic blood pressure was lower in the feijoa group at four and six months.

Why these four together?

"Each of the four ingredients addresses a different part of the metabolic pathway. ... They're not redundant. They're complementary. That's what formulation should look like."

What to expect

Supporting your body's GLP-1 system isn't a quick fix, and results vary from person to person. The clinical results behind the ingredients built over weeks to months of daily use:

  • Eriomin: the 22% GLP-1 increase and 6% lower blood glucose were measured at 12 weeks.
  • Morosil: fat mass was significantly lower than placebo at three and six months.
  • Reducose: was tested with a single meal, so it acts on the meal it is taken with rather than building up over time.

Consistency matters, and so does the rest of your routine.

Other ways to support your GLP-1 system

GLP-1 Up works best as part of a healthy routine. A review of nutrition and GLP-1 shows that what you eat directly influences how much GLP-1 your gut releases.

Fiber and protein

Foods rich in fiber (oats, beans, apples) and plant protein (lentils, tofu, quinoa) help trigger GLP-1 release. So Lean & So Clean delivers 23 grams of complete organic plant protein per serving, with a digestive enzyme blend.

Healthy fats

Avocados, nuts and olive oil support fullness, and in one study a meal made with olive oil produced more GLP-1 than the same meal made with butter.

Regular movement

A single bout of exercise raised GLP-1 levels in a meta-analysis of studies in healthy adults. Movement is also central to metabolic flexibility, your body's ability to switch between fuel sources.

GLP-1 Up is third-party tested under our 5 Nation Standard, and we publish Certificates of Analysis so you can see the results for yourself.

How to buy GLP-1 Up

GLP-1 Up is available as a one-time purchase or through subscribe and save. You may be able to pay with HSA or FSA funds. For broader metabolic support, The Metabolic Reset pairs GLP-1 Up with plant protein and a synbiotic.

GLP-1 Up is a dietary supplement and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Talk to your healthcare provider before using it, especially if you are pregnant, nursing or taking medication.

Frequently asked questions

How is GLP-1 Up different from GLP-1 drugs?

GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic and Wegovy are prescription medications that mimic GLP-1 at much higher potency. GLP-1 Up is a dietary supplement with plant ingredients studied for supporting your body’s own GLP-1 production and blood sugar response. It is not a substitute for prescription medication.

How long does GLP-1 Up take to work?

Results vary. Reducose acts on the meal it is taken with, while the Eriomin GLP-1 results were measured after 12 weeks and the Morosil body composition results at three and six months of daily use.

Is GLP-1 Up third-party tested?

Yes. GLP-1 Up is tested under Ora’s 5 Nation Standard, and Certificates of Analysis are published on the Ora website.

Can I take GLP-1 Up with other supplements or medications?

It pairs well with a protein supplement such as So Lean & So Clean. If you take prescription medication, especially for diabetes or a GLP-1 medication, ask your healthcare provider first.

Is GLP-1 Up safe?

Its ingredients have been studied in human trials with no serious safety concerns reported. As with any supplement, talk to your healthcare provider before use, especially if you are pregnant, nursing or taking medications.
